2015 Fall Plant Swap....Success!!

The 2015 Fall Plant Swap is in the books, I will classify it as a success, not one of our best, but certainly not the worst.
65 people and approximately 1300 plants were traded. That is about one half of a normal gathering. We had a few things against us. The weather was slightly threatening and there was actually another plant swap being held the same day in downtown Charleston. Still, overall, a good day.
There were new friendships made, old ones rekindled, and a few people got some very nice plants that they had been looking for.
The spring swap does not have a date set yet, I am actually waiting on some family events to get planned before I choose one, rest assured there will be one!!
It will be posted here, on Facebook (NorthCharlestonPlantSwap) and via e-mail. If you want to get on the e-mail list for future swaps and other interesting plant information when it comes up, send me a message and I will add you.
Thanks to ALL of you that showed up!! Hopefully we will have more folks stick around and participate in the potluck lunch at the spring swap.
In the meantime, enjoy these photos from the swap itself.
Happy Growing!

2015 Fall Plant Swap....September 26th!!!

September 26th is coming up. 5 WEEKS AWAY!! You still have time to stick some cuttings, maybe plant some seeds. If you are worried about not having any plants to bring, go check out some of the big box stores, they always seem to have a clearance section. Buy some of those and test you garden doctor skills, maybe you can bring it back from the almost dead and swap it for something you REALLY want at the swap.
If you have never been to a swap....Here is how it works:
11AM swap OFFICIALLY begins...10am setup....immediately afterwards...LUNCH!
Bring ALL your extra plants, if it grows, it will go! Including Houseplants! Also any garden related items, Hoses, Garden Art, Containers, Etc.
We are having it at Park Circle in North Charleston, opposite side from the Gazebo, same side as the playground. There are picnic tables, bathrooms and LOTS of room for kids to play and even more room for plants, parking and food.
Pretty much everybody in Charleston is familiar with Park Circle....there are numerous ways to get to it, depending on which way you are coming. If you want or need directions, e-mail me, TheCitrusGuy@netzero.com I will get it and respond ASAP.
The way we swap will be the basic Free For All. I will say go, everybody will grab ONE (1) plant and take it to their hiding area. After everybody has a plant, we repeat the process. Nice and Simple!
We will have plates and napkins and such, Please bring your own drinks and a covered dish for as many as you can. We like to do a Pot Luck style picnic and encourage everybody to stick around and participate. The socializing afterwards is as much fun as the swap itself, please try to give yourself enough time to stay and enjoy yourself!

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask
